Security Guard Position at Iona University

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Campus Safety Officer at Iona University. As a key member of our security team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Public Safety and Security: Provide a safe and secure environment for all members of the Iona Community, protecting life and property.
- Enforcement of Laws and Policies: Enforce all New York State Laws and policies and guidelines of Iona University, including the Code of Conduct and Parking and Traffic Regulations.
- Adherence to Departmental Rules and Regulations: Strictly adhere to the Department of Campus Safety and Security Rules and Regulations and Manual of Procedure.
- Responding to Calls for Service: Respond to all calls for service and answer all telephone calls in a prompt and courteous manner to assist the complainant and investigate all reported incidents.
- Boot and Tow Operations: Strictly enforce our booting and towing policies for vehicles parked in violation at the direction of a supervisor in accordance with our established policy and guidelines.
- Patrol and Access Control: Conduct random patrol of all assigned posts and properly conduct access control while assigned to a fixed post by maintaining a high level of visibility.
- Professional Conduct: Remain alert at all times while on duty and carry out duties with honesty and integrity and without prejudice.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure that all Campus Safety and Security vehicles assigned to them are kept in safe and good mechanical condition.
- Uniform and Equipment Maintenance: Properly care and maintain all uniforms and equipment assigned to them.
- Safety Information: Provide safety information to members of the Iona Community as required.
- New York State Security Guard Certification: Must possess a valid New York State Security Guard Certification and satisfactorily complete the 16 Hour In-Service Security Training Course.
- Education: Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Communication Skills: Must possess good communications and human relation skills.
- Driving Record: Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Weather Conditions: Must be able to work in various weather conditions and tours of assignment.
