Thermal Engineer Job Description

At SpaceX, we are seeking a highly skilled Thermal Engineer to join our team. As a Thermal Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and testing of our spacecraft thermal control systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop thermal control systems for spacecraft, including heat exchangers, radiators, and thermal interfaces.
  • Analyze thermal loads and develop thermal models to predict spacecraft temperatures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure thermal systems meet performance and safety requirements.
  • Develop and implement thermal testing plans and procedures to validate spacecraft thermal performance.
  • Optimize thermal system designs to meet mass, cost, and performance targets.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in spacecraft thermal analysis or thermal systems engineering.
  • Proficiency in thermal analysis tools, such as Thermal Desktop.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Unigraphics NX CAD system and Matlab.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft thermal control systems and heat transfer principles.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Additional Requirements:
  • Able to travel to other SpaceX sites as needed.
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
