About the Role

At UnitedHealth Group, we are committed to helping people live healthier lives and making the health system work better for everyone. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive the care they need in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview patients to obtain demographic, billing, and insurance information
  • Complete all registration steps, including locating and processing provider requisitions
  • Determine insurance eligibility and patient payment
  • Collect payment on insured and self-pay accounts
  • Obtain signatures for necessary paperwork, including financial agreements and medical release
Requirements
  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in a Customer Service Role
  • Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with insurance reimbursement and financial verification
  • Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
Soft Skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
