Job Title: Health and Wellness Specialist

Coffee Regional Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Health and Wellness Specialist to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Health and Wellness Specialist will be responsible for providing professional care to patients and clients of all ages within an assigned area, ensuring the safety and well-being of the Wellness Center, and directing quality care to patients in Phase II and Phase III of the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program.

Responsibilities:
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and physicians.
  • Identify and suggest in-service programs to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Update monthly reports as needed.
  • Limit personal phone calls and visits to emergency situations.
  • Complete annual educational requirements prior to evaluation.
  • Report to work on time and complete work within designated time.
  • Attend at least 75% of staff meetings annually.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Collaborate and communicate with customers, physicians, nursing staff/management, visitors, and measure complaints in 6 months.
Wellness Center Responsibilities:
  • Perform physical assessments to determine capacity to exercise.
  • Lead group exercise, provide instructions, and demonstrate proper exercise techniques.
  • Develop and implement fitness programs through the use of Fitlinxx.
  • Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly.
  • Manage memberships, software, Fitlinxx, and spreadsheets.
  • Request supplies as needed.
Cardiac Rehabilitation Responsibilities:
  • Calculate and prepare exercise prescriptions according to patient's physical condition and needs.
  • Communicate results of evaluations and training progress to primary physicians, patients, and supervising physicians.
  • Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Interact professionally with patient/family and involve patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
  • Recognize basic arrhythmias on telemetry and react appropriately.
  • Monitor blood pressure, heart rate, perceived clinical status, and workload of each patient, considering the age of the patient.
  • Assist with exercise stress tests as needed.
  • Perform patient care responsibilities, considering needs specific to the Standard of Care for patient's age.
  • Assess and reassess pain management techniques, educate the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • Formulate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning, including family as appropriate.
  • Consult other departments as appropriate to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient's needs.
