We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer III to join our Industrial Construction team at Dennis Group Springfield. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and building new food and beverage process facilities, focusing on land development and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design land development plans, building pads, and infrastructure for new buildings, including landscaping and foundation work.
  • Collaborate with structure engineers and architects/designers to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Evaluate bid proposals and conduct initial contact with local contractors.
  • Prepare partial to complete project documentation, including CAD drawings.
  • Perform procurement tasks, such as bid list development and preliminary bid evaluation.
  • Conduct construction administration tasks, including complex submittal review and response to RFIs.
  • Develop site basis of design documents and edit project specifications.
  • Design parking lot layouts that meet development ordinances and regulations.
  • Analyze and design institutional, industrial, and commercial building sites.
  • Review historical site drawings to ensure site objectives align with existing conditions.
  • Understand pavement materials, design pavement sections, and construction methods.
  • Determine land use characteristics and assign runoff coefficients.
  • Calculate times of concentrations and perform pre-development hydrologic analysis for simple sites.
  • Delineate complex watersheds and determine how to model watershed.
  • Develop design approaches for sites, considering topography, existing drainage conditions, outfalls, site constraints, etc.
  • Design detention pond systems and outlet control structures to meet pre-development discharge rates.
  • Design channel linings and advance site grading using Civil 3D.
  • Perform trust restraint calculations for pressure systems.
  • Understand BMPs for EPSC and prepare storm drainage reports.
  • Prepare engineering calculations and sketches.
  • Prepare land development plans, site grading, utility, and drainage design for planning, permitting, and construction.
  • Review drawings and coordinate the project team.
  • Prepare bid packages and provide construction administration.
  • Develop bidder lists and visit project sites to observe field conditions.
  • Evaluate design constraints and resolve problems.
  • Research civil engineering materials and best practices.
  • Support talent growth within our organization and provide coaching/mentoring to subordinate groups when directed by supervisors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in civil engineer tasks involving industrial construction projects (foundation and below aspects - design land development, building pads, and infrastructure for new builds, etc.).
  • 7+ years of experience in drainage, grading, and utility design for industrial or commercial projects.
  • 7+ years of experience in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed (up to 15 days per year).
  • EIT license.
