The Mechanical Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that preventive maintenance is effectively carried out on essential and auxiliary machinery involved in our continuous pellet production operations.

This position requires strict compliance with established procedures, thorough identification and documentation of specified equipment, and timely submission for further inspection or corrective maintenance as necessary. The role also includes contributing to the ongoing enhancement of lubrication and preventive maintenance programs, with support from the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance tasks, along with troubleshooting and servicing of mobile equipment to enhance reliability in line with Enviva's Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS).
  • Regularly maintains hydraulic systems and lubrication of mechanical equipment, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of various lubricants and their applications.
  • Interprets and follows technical diagrams and schematics accurately.
  • Complies with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, policies, and practices at the facility.
  • Provides technical assistance for effective troubleshooting and problem-solving initiatives to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborates with the operations team to enhance reliability and improve overall plant performance.
  • Willingness to undergo training as mandated by the Supervisor and Enviva.
  • Adheres to safety standards as outlined by OSHA and Enviva.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; must be able to obtain a GED within the first six months of employment.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems or manual tracking is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Flexibility to work twelve-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as our facilities operate continuously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in vibration analysis and precision alignment is advantageous.
  • Background in repairing or troubleshooting gearboxes or mechanical drive systems is a plus.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying temperatures, including extremes above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
  • Prepared to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial setting.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Capable of performing tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to twelve hours a day.
  • Able to work around moving machinery and equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and pull weights of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and other relevant standards, including meeting productivity benchmarks.
