Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Marine Blasting Technician to join our team at Tidewater Staffing. As a key member of our ship repair and maintenance team, you will be responsible for preparing marine crafts for painting by removing paint, rust, and mill scale using 150 PSI sandblasting equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and set up sandblasting equipment and hoses in the required location, ensuring proper ventilation.
  • Sandblast surfaces using all necessary environmental and safety controls, providing your own sandblasting hoods and nozzles.
  • Disassemble and store sandblasting equipment and hoses properly.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of techniques for preparing steel surfaces for painting, including SSPC SP-10, SSPC SP-6, and SSPC SP-7.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the Marine Blasting field.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to carry loads of at least 50 lbs, climb stairways and ladders, and crawl in tanks and voids.
  • Must be able to kneel, stand, crouch, and stoop for extended periods.
Work Environment
  • Shipyard environment with cramped quarters, high places, hazardous conditions, loud noises, and specialized protective equipment.
