We are looking for a highly organized and motivated individual to take on the role of Lead Operations Manager for System Integration Testing. This position requires exceptional communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
Your key responsibilities will include orchestrating and overseeing testing initiatives, collaborating with diverse engineering teams at Joby Aero, Inc. (spanning design, manufacturing, certification, and more).
The Lead Operations Manager will supervise a dedicated team, developing and implementing strategies that ensure timely achievement of project milestones while adhering to quality and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage the operational plan for the System Integration Testing Lab
Engage closely with Testing, Design, Certification, and Manufacturing teams, as well as other supporting departments, to identify and define testing-related projects essential for aircraft hardware development, including battery packs, electronics, electric propulsion systems, flight computers, navigation systems, and associated software.
Collaborate with fellow project managers to align company-wide efforts towards achieving critical milestones.
Proactively manage ongoing projects by monitoring progress, identifying project gates, and addressing potential issues before they impact project timelines.
The Lead Operations Manager will demonstrate sound judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to guide teams in meeting ambitious deadlines.
Create, maintain, communicate, and present schedules to various stakeholders, from team members to executives.Develop tools to enhance reporting and planning functions as described above.
Utilize team performance metrics to inform growth, organizational, and budgeting strategies, providing feedback to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
5+ years of experience in an engineering setting with a focus on implementing or managing change.
Proven organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Familiarity with DO178 in a laboratory context.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple high-velocity engineering projects simultaneously.
Comprehensive understanding of the product development lifecycle for hardware-centric projects from conception to launch.
Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Confluence, and JIRA.
Proficient in standard workplace software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, etc.) with the capability to create and maintain performance and efficiency metrics.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with aerospace projects and the FAA certification process is advantageous but not mandatory.
Compensation at Joby Aero, Inc. consists of a base salary and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base salary for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
