HALO Precision Diagnostics is seeking a dedicated full-time, remote Medical Authorization Specialist. Candidates should possess a minimum of one year of experience in authorizations, billing, medical insurance verification, and eligibility assessment to qualify for this role. The working hours are from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. This position requires strong technical skills and self-discipline to effectively work from home.

Role Overview and Responsibilities
The Medical Authorization Specialist is tasked with collecting all necessary information for the thorough submission of prior authorizations for imaging procedures. The specialist must ensure the authorization form is completed accurately and submitted through the correct channels. Follow-up communications regarding authorization status and documentation within the RIS system are also essential responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the correct authorization form is identified and submitted appropriately.
  • Collect all required information from healthcare providers to finalize authorization requests.
  • Submit authorization requests to the respective insurance plans.
  • Conduct follow-up calls to insurance companies or healthcare providers for updates on authorization status or to request additional information.
  • Manage online authorization cases as needed.
  • Maintain necessary spreadsheets and documentation related to authorizations.
  • Communicate relevant updates to the sales team as required.
  • Meet standards for benefit investigation processes by completing assigned tasks promptly.
  • Report to management when assistance is needed to complete tasks.
  • Engage in team meetings to discuss case details.
  • Availability to work shifts between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for candidates with prior authorization experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and diagnosis codes relevant to radiology.
  • Capability to review medical histories and documentation to extract necessary authorization information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for effective communication with internal teams, insurance providers, and healthcare personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively based on workload demands.
  • Maintain professionalism while interacting with patients, clients, and insurance representatives.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in medical insurance verification and eligibility.
  • One year of experience in medical billing and authorizations.
