Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least two years of experience in the healthcare sector, with prior call center experience preferred.
  • A minimum of one year in Prior Authorization and/or Insurance verification.
  • Experience with Vein Authorization is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Spinal Cord procedures, Kyphoplasty, and Imaging is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the authorization process for upcoming surgical procedures on the physicians' schedules, ensuring timely and accurate authorizations.
  • Confirm patient demographic details and insurance eligibility, including coordination of benefits; update and verify necessary information for claims processing.
  • Thoroughly complete surgical cost analysis forms, documenting the required cost estimates for collection prior to services.
  • Verify benefits for all surgical procedures.
  • Document authorizations and their progress in the patient's chart, entering authorization information into case management.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and colleagues, fostering strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to ongoing training and education of staff regarding new processes to ensure timely confirmation of surgical cases.
  • Collaborate with department management to address and resolve complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist surgery schedulers with urgent authorizations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all health records and member information, adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow improvements within daily operations.
  • Attend departmental meetings as required.
