Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Nursing Assistant to join our Hospice Care team at Advocate Health. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals and their families during a challenging time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the Admission/Discharge Transfer process of patients under the guidance of a GIP Hospice Nurse or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Set up patient rooms, orient patients and families to the room, and obtain vital signs, including height and weight.
  • Provide personal care to patients, including bathing, oral and denture care, shaving, back rubs, and skin care.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as toileting, ambulation, and transferring.
  • Respond to call lights and patient requests, and refer to appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Collect, prepare, and transport patient specimens as directed by the GIP Hospice Nurse or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Assist physicians with bedside procedures as deemed appropriate.
  • Perform oral suctioning using a yankauer suctioning instrument, as delegated by the RN.
  • Contribute to the patient plan of care through documentation and communication with other healthcare providers.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program preferred.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, with assistance as needed.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with exposure to various contagious diseases, radiation, chemicals, and other hazards associated with patient care. The ability to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients is essential.
