Position Title: Senior VCS Administrator

Location: 100% Remote

Security Clearance: US citizenship required per government contract; must be able to obtain a public trust clearance.

Overview:
The VCS Team operates as a tier 3 support unit within a comprehensive IT infrastructure. This role involves working in a 24/7/365 environment, which includes shifts during days, nights, and weekends for production modifications. Participation in an on-call rotation is also expected.

Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot server performance issues, particularly with Java-based applications.
- Conduct patching and troubleshooting within a secured environment.

Required Expertise:
- Proficient in Infoscale versions 7.4.2 and 8.
- Administration of high-availability clusters utilizing Veritas Infoscale.
- Experience with VXVM/VXFS Storage and Filesystem management.
- Daily systems administration and user management (setuser).
- Knowledge of SAN replication.

Strong Background Required:
  • Extensive experience with Solaris 11.4, including OS-level patching and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in shell and Perl scripting.
  • Familiarity with LDOMS configuration.
  • Understanding of ZFS/VDEVS.
  • Daily systems administration tasks.
  • Experience with cron setup and SAN connectivity.
  • Knowledge of routing over multiple interfaces.
  • Experience with sshd configuration.
  • Familiarity with RHEL7/RHEL8.
  • Experience with VMware/VCenter for RHEL VM management.

Familiarity with Tools:
  • Remedy for incident management.
  • Tripwire IDS.
  • BladeLogic Server Management.
  • Change Management processes.
  • Ansible.
  • Sendmail.
  • On-call rotation responsibilities.

Additional Expectations:
The successful candidate will assist in annual audits, manage incidents to closure, and effectively plan and execute changes following documented processes. During incidents, you will engage in troubleshooting performance, network connectivity, port availability, and process detection, often in collaboration with team members via live conference calls.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in VCS/Solaris, RHEL7/8, and Remedy.

Proficiency in MS Office:
- Competent in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Critical Skills:
- Strong analytical thinking and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
