Child and Adolescent Therapist

At SMYAL, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Child and Adolescent Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our mental health services, you will provide client-centered therapeutic services to address the mental, emotional, and behavioral health goals of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients aged 10 and up, both virtually and in-person.
- Conduct intakes and assessments of new clients, coordinating psychosocial, legal, and medical referrals as needed.
- Provide crisis intervention services, facilitate peer mediation, and refer clients for psychiatric assessment when necessary.
- Assist clients in advocating for and obtaining benefits and entitlements.
- Plan and lead group therapy sessions, and participate in program management duties.
- Liaise with other service providers and assist in outreach efforts.
- Develop and maintain community partnerships, and present psychosocial needs, strengths, and limitations of assigned clients during supervision and interdisciplinary care planning meetings.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date client records and documentation, and clinical notes.
- Manage referrals and case conferences with referring agencies, groups, and/or individuals.
Requirements:
- Master of Social Work or equivalent master's degree.
- Licensed in the mental health field (LGSW or equivalent).
- Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.
- 2+ years of experience providing therapeutic services.
- Strong working knowledge of mental health, LGBT issues, and clinical practice for effective provision of psychotherapy to diverse populations.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and competence with issues related to racial, cultural, gender identity, and sexual minority status.
- Strong knowledge and skills in working with adolescents, families, and supportive systems.
- Experience and/or specialized training in expressive therapies, including play therapy, psychodrama, and art therapy.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and employee drug screening.
Benefits:
- Salary: $80,000-$85,000.
