This Accounting Technician / Senior Accounting Technician series is utilized across the county, making it a frequently sought-after classification. The salary range for each classification level is as follows:

Accounting Technician: $54,184 - $65,873.60 Annually
Senior Accounting Technician: $59,612 - $72,446.40 Annually

The ideal candidate should possess excellent customer service abilities, strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Position Overview
Accounting Technician: Under general supervision, perform complex and moderately technical para-professional accounting, finance, and bookkeeping tasks essential for maintaining fiscal and statistical records; assist in the preparation and upkeep of financial statements, documents, analyses, and accounting reports; review, verify, reconcile, and record financial transactions requiring significant interpretative ability and technical judgment; perform additional related duties as necessary.

Senior Accounting Technician: Under general supervision, execute highly technical and intricate para-professional and entry-level professional accounting and bookkeeping functions related to grants, contracts, purchase orders, and other financial records concerning the monitoring, reconciliation, verification, analysis, and approval of financial expenditures.

Employment Standards
Minimum Qualifications
Accounting Technician
Any combination of experience and education that provides the necessary knowledge and skills is acceptable. A typical pathway to acquiring the knowledge and skills is outlined below:

Four (4) years of experience in maintaining and reviewing accounting and financial records, preparing and processing accounting documents, or managing a fiscal record-keeping system; AND completion of two years (60 semester units) of college or technical school training with coursework preferably in business, bookkeeping, accounting, or financial records. Two (2) years of qualifying experience may substitute for the college education on a year-for-year basis.

Senior Accounting Technician
Any combination of experience and education that provides the necessary knowledge and skills is acceptable. A typical pathway to acquiring the knowledge and skills is outlined below:

Experience: Two years of experience as an Accounting Technician in Yolo County; or four years of highly responsible accounting or financial support para-professional experience involving monitoring, reconciliation, verification, analysis, and approval of financial expenditures.

Education: Some college or technical school training in business, bookkeeping, accounting, or financial records is desirable. College education, which preferably includes coursework in the listed areas, can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

License
