Overview
The Head of Process Engineering is a pivotal role responsible for shaping and guiding the onsite engineering team at Chobani's production facility.

This position demands a high level of accountability, leadership, and independent decision-making.

The incumbent will manage the design process from the initial conceptual stage through to execution and project completion.

This role will evaluate vendors for their competencies and capabilities, review and negotiate bid documents, and ensure accountability for project development and execution, particularly in relation to the performance of process systems.

Moreover, this position is tasked with providing timely support for daily manufacturing operations, which includes troubleshooting, optimization, and initiatives aimed at waste reduction.

Ensuring food safety and the quality of Chobani products is a fundamental responsibility of this role.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise in support of processing, utilities, and wastewater systems.
- Develop strategies to maintain or enhance process efficiencies while optimizing costs, yields, quality, and safety.
- Diagnose process issues and identify root causes to resolve problems effectively.
- Coordinate process control in conjunction with automation systems.
- Create conceptual engineering designs and layout plans for process equipment.
- Generate documentation to support process modifications, including PFDs, P&IDs, and process descriptions.
- Specify required equipment and collaborate with vendors and contractors to achieve project goals.
- Lead and engage in process risk assessments, automation simulations, and project-related FMEAs.
- Supervise the formulation of intervention, LOTO, and flush plans.
- Ensure asset tagging is integrated into WW Historian and that automated reporting systems are functioning correctly.
- Determine the configuration of piping, equipment, and utilities for engineering modifications.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Management team to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery.
- Conduct research on engineering topics, prepare studies, and execute trials with production teams.
- Assist in transitioning capital projects to the production team.
- Maintain a comprehensive documentation library in coordination with the drafting team (including Equipment Layouts, Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, Equipment Manuals, and Standards).
- Review and critique all proposed process changes, submittals, and designs through a Management of Change process.
- Stay informed about relevant agency regulations and advise operations, maintenance, and project managers accordingly.
- Adhere to Chobani's safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
- Experience in the dairy or food manufacturing sector with extensive process knowledge; experience with cultured dairy products is advantageous.
- 3-5 years of experience at the director level leading a technical team.
- 10-15 years of experience in capital projects or plant manufacturing.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficient understanding of HACCP, food safety, and compliance regulations; PMO experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with PLC and logic controls for high-speed operational equipment.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively, inspire a shared vision, motivate others, challenge the status quo, and drive change.
- Willingness to act as a working manager and provide technical support to the process engineering team as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to develop team members and share knowledge effectively.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks under time constraints and ensure thorough execution.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, project management, and team leadership.
- A track record of driving process improvements, cost savings, and operational efficiencies.
