Job Overview:

The Custodian III role is essential for supporting the educational environment by delivering comprehensive custodial services at an assigned elementary school. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors. Duties include executing various specialized cleaning tasks, preparing facilities for educational activities and events, overseeing contracted custodial staff, and ensuring all tasks are completed effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions to gather necessary information for job performance.
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned facilities, including classrooms, offices, and restrooms, to ensure a sanitary and appealing environment.
  • Collaborate with administrative staff to plan and prioritize custodial activities, aligning with maintenance goals.
  • Coordinate facility setups with contracted custodial services for events and activities.
  • Deliver supplies and materials to appropriate locations within the site.
  • Inspect facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness, identifying any required repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to custodial schedules and inventory.
  • Monitor and maintain custodial supplies and equipment to ensure availability.
  • Supervise students and staff in work areas to promote safety.
  • Order necessary supplies and equipment while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks to uphold a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Prepare facilities for daily operations, ensuring they are operational and free of hazards.
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns from staff, students, and visitors.
  • Address immediate safety and operational issues as they arise.
  • Schedule maintenance activities and oversee contracted personnel.
  • Support other maintenance staff in completing custodial tasks.
  • Assist with various campus projects to ensure timely completion.
  • Train assigned personnel on equipment handling and safety practices.
  • Transport necessary tools and supplies to job sites.
Additional Duties:

Perform other related responsibilities as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the work unit.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Skills and Knowledge:
Ability to perform multiple tasks and adapt to changing job conditions. Knowledge of industrial cleaning methods, safety practices, and basic maintenance tasks is essential. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with diverse individuals are required.

Work Environment:

This position involves significant physical demands, including lifting, carrying, and moving items, as well as working under varying temperature conditions. The role requires a mix of walking, standing, and sitting.

Clearances:

Criminal Background Clearance is required.
