Hennepin County Medical Center is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist II to join our acute care pediatric team. This role will work at our hospital, providing comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and developing patient care plans to promote optimal function and safety.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric occupational therapy, with experience in treating patients' birth through 12 years of age. A developmental focus is preferred, and experience with infants is a plus.

This role will cover areas such as NICU, PICU, trauma, and developmental needs. The successful candidate will be able to work cooperatively with other members of the medical team and interpret policies and procedures in an advisory capacity.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Performing and documenting comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations
  • Developing and documenting patient care plans to promote optimal function and safety
  • Observing, evaluating, and documenting patient progress
  • Participating in hospital rounds and patient care conferences
  • Functioning as a clinical instructor for occupational therapy students
  • Directing and supervising activities performed by OT aides
  • Properly applying and operating rehabilitative equipment
  • Developing and conducting occupational therapy in-services for other staff
  • Orienting and mentoring newly assigned staff
  • Serving as a clinical resource for other staff
  • Representing the occupational therapy department on committees and providing consultation to other departments and agencies as assigned
  • Providing work direction for clerical staff
  • Assisting in monitoring the quality of occupational therapy activities and services
  • Functioning as a resource for departmental policies and procedures

Requirements include:

  • Graduation from an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by the American Medical Association
  • Minimum of 2 full-time years of experience (4,160 hours)
  • Previous clinical experience/rehabilitation in peds acute
  • ~ 2+ year(s) of Pediatric Occupational Therapy
  • ~ Developmental and Trauma peds focus areas
  • ~ Craniosacral training or interest in pursuing this area of intervention
  • ~ Committed to helping children improve critical functions of daily living, sensory integration, fine motor skills, visual perceptual skills, and feeding
  • ~ Passion for peds and providing excellent care while working with diverse patient population

Requirements:

  • Certified or eligible for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification examination for Occupational Therapist, Registered

Work Environment:

This role will work at our hospital, with shifts including casual weekday and weekend rotation 1 in 4. The ideal candidate will be able to work cooperatively with other members of the medical team and interpret policies and procedures in an advisory capacity.
