Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Construction Laborer to join our team at the City of Alice. As a Construction Laborer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful completion of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Construction Equipment: Safely operate various types of construction equipment, including but not limited to, excavators, backhoes, and forklifts.
  • Perform Manual Labor: Perform manual labor tasks, such as digging holes, running-off gutters, and trenches, using hand tools and other equipment.
  • Assist in Pipe Installation: Assist in the installation of pipes, including positioning, joining, aligning, and sealing pipe sections.
  • Measure and Mark: Measure distances from grade stakes, drive stakes, and stretch tight lines to ensure accurate placement of construction materials.
  • Level and Grading: Level earth to fine grade specifications, ensuring that construction sites are properly prepared for construction activities.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 2+ years of industrial/utility construction work experience required.
  • Qualifications: Valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record required.

Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent walking, climbing, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, crawling.
  • Lifting: Heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling (80+ pounds) occasionally.
  • Environment: Work outside or inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, dirt, sewage, water, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, and vibration; work around moving objects or vehicles; insects, rodents, may work alone, regular exposure to high heat, fast-moving mechanical parts.
  • Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress, occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
