We are seeking a highly skilled Class A CDL Tractor Trailer Driver to join our team at Interstate Waste Services, Inc. in Bronx, NY. As a CDL A Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a tractor trailer, transporting containers of municipal and commercial waste between our local Transfer Stations and rail yards.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a tractor trailer in compliance with IWS's safety standards, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
- Ensure the intermodal container and its content are secure on the Tractor & Chassis Unit.
- Perform pre- and post-route inspections of assigned truck and document any safety issues.
- Monitor for safety and service-related issues, and report any incidents to the Route Supervisor or Dispatch.
- Communicate professionally with customers and Dispatchers at all times.
- Valid Class A CDL with air brake endorsement.
- At least 1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL-A within the last 7 years.
- Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
- Ability to speak and read English well enough to converse with the general public.
- Ability to meet the physical and safety requirements of the position.
- Competitive pay rate of $26.66/hour.
- Overtime paid after 40 hours in a work week.
- Full benefits, including medical insurance, life insurance, retirement benefits, and paid time off.
- Union position with a strong commitment to safety and accountability.
The Driver position may be required to lift up to 50 pounds, as well as mount and dismount the truck multiple times every route. Our trucks are equipped with route tracking software and video monitoring, and we strictly adhere to DOT safety regulations.
