Medical Technologist (Reference Lab)

The Blood Center is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our dynamic team in the Reference Laboratory. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in performing molecular immunohematology testing, routine and complex transfusion service testing, and assisting area hospitals in resolving unexpected serologic results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all transfusion service testing, maintain the rare donor file, and assist in the resolution of unexpected serologic results encountered during donor processing.
  • Perform routine component quality control.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
  • MT (ASCP) certification or equivalent.
  • LA CLS-G license.
  • Extensive blood bank background.

Working Conditions:

This position will be performed in a well-lighted, air-conditioned laboratory. The employee will be subject to hazards, atmospheric conditions, and long periods of viewing a computer terminal, microscope monitor-type equipment.
