Position Overview

The MEP Project Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and execution of mechanical and electrical systems within various projects. This position requires a strong foundation in engineering principles and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of design experience with a MEP or consulting firm.
  • A total of 10 years of professional experience in the engineering field.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering is mandatory.
  • FE certification is required; LEED and/or PE certifications are preferred.
  • Proficiency in design software and a solid understanding of CAD/BIM operations.
  • General knowledge of mechanical and electrical system design is essential.
Key Responsibilities

As a MEP Project Engineer, you will:

  • Collaborate with Senior Project Leaders on schematic designs, ensuring mechanical and electrical room sizes and requirements are met.
  • Transform design concepts into comprehensive development and construction documents.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Entry Level Designers and Senior Designers, reviewing their work.
  • Prepare detailed design specifications and engage in company-wide initiatives such as BIM and Standards.
  • Lead trade coordination efforts and execute complex design tasks, including layouts for mechanical and electrical rooms.
  • Participate in construction meetings, generate observation reports, and conduct inspections on-site.
  • Coordinate with other design professionals to ensure clearances and select appropriate project details.
  • Document existing conditions, troubleshoot issues, and conduct thorough code research and evaluations.
  • Prepare addendums, change orders, and additional service requests as necessary.
  • Offer value engineering insights and participate in trade QA/QC to maintain compliance with design standards.
  • Support the firm's outreach and marketing efforts to enhance visibility and thought leadership in the industry.
  • Leverage resources across various locations and time zones to achieve project objectives.
  • Act as the responsible agent on commissioning and construction management projects.
  • Innovate and enhance job functions and overall firm operations.
