Job Title: Academic Technology Specialist I

Emory University is seeking a highly skilled Academic Technology Specialist I to join our team. As a key member of our IT staff, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the technology infrastructure used in the daily operations of Emory Law.

Job Summary:

The Academic Technology Specialist I will work collaboratively with other members of the IT team to deliver consistent, excellent IT support to students, faculty, staff, and guests. This seasonal position is a 10-month position working annually from August 1 through May 31.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and support technology hardware and software applications to ensure seamless operation.
  • Deploy technology solutions to support teaching and learning, including virtual assistance and in-person support.
  • Utilize monitoring tools to troubleshoot incidents and enhance the availability of services.
  • Participate in the development and assessment of academic technologies and support learning-based technologies in multiple formats.
  • Perform equipment refreshes and hardware installations, troubleshoot issues, and initiate fixes and resolutions.
  • Support campus network access to computers and mobile devices, coordinate with vendors and contractors to meet customer needs for out-sourced technology support.
  • Maintain auxiliary equipment pools to supplement and/or replace deployed equipment and technologies.
  • Conduct orientations and training sessions to build user skills, assist UTS and Emory staff to support back-to-school efforts and related events.
  • Research new products to remain current with market trends and recent technology requirements, and provide product recommendations to ensure effective operability and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience with IT, Instructional Technology, A/V Event Support Services, Video Technologies, or other related fields is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows 10 and 11, and Mac products.
  • Outstanding data management, administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with employees of various technological skill levels.
  • Must be willing to learn and implement new technologies to enhance task performance.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to initiate and follow-through with minimal supervision, meet deadlines, work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, be part of a collegial team, and balance competing assignments necessary.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Availability for some evening and weekend work required with advance notice.
  • Experience working in or demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive environment.
  • Experience in higher education information technology.
