Transportation Security Officer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Security Officer to join our team at Kandiyohi County, MN. As a Transportation Security Officer, you will be responsible for safely transporting inmates and ICE detainees, as well as providing security at the courthouse and performing other duties as deemed necessary by the Sheriff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport inmates and ICE detainees as needed, ensuring their safety and security during transport.
  • Inspect transport vehicles prior to transports and document these inspections.
  • Maintain and repair transport vehicles and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Communicate with other facilities on timing of transports and coordinate with other staff members as needed.
  • Prepare reports and documents as required, including mileage, times, and other relevant information.
  • Transport property belonging to inmates/detainees, including medications and checks.
  • Transport meals as required for inmates/detainees being transported.
  • Document all activities and incidents during transport, including any issues or concerns.
  • Assist with court security as needed, following the direction of full-time court security staff.
  • Assist with being a jury attendant, following post orders for this position.
  • Train as necessary to maintain POST license and Sheriff's Office requirements.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Law Enforcement or related field.
  • Minnesota POST licensed or eligible to be licensed at time of hire.
  • Valid Minnesota Driver's License.
  • CPR and First Aid trained.
  • Able to qualify with county-issued firearms.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, working up to 29 hours per week, with on-call availability. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with the ability to lift and move objects of bulk and weight up to 75 pounds. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent changes in priorities and deadlines.

Kandiyohi County offers a complete benefits package to full-time employees, including health, dental, vision, PERA retirement, 457(b) deferred compensation plan, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, long-term disability, holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Part-time employees who work an average of 20 hours per week over the course of a year receive benefits on a pro-rated basis.
