Position Title: Food Service Associate

Role Summary:

The Food Service Associate is responsible for addressing and fulfilling meal requests from staff and visitors in a cafeteria or catering environment. This role requires effective communication skills, attentiveness to customer orders, food preparation according to specifications, cash handling, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of workstations. Please note that this position does not involve direct patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service by addressing inquiries, concerns, and resolving complaints.
  • Ensure quality food service to cafeteria, deli, and espresso bar patrons, adhering to customer orders.
  • Maintain inventory of menu items, stock, and beverages in accordance with established standards.
  • Prepare meals at various stations including grill, pizza, deli, salad bar, and hot entree bar as per customer requests.
  • Document waste, received items, and cleanliness of stations.
  • Restock areas as necessary throughout the shift and at the end of the workday.
  • Uphold food safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Follow cash handling procedures accurately.
  • Assist with guest services during events, including setup and breakdown of catering services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to execute essential job functions effectively.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to manage customer service and inventory tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to coordinate activities among team members during staff shortages.
  • Competence in handling special customer requests and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Adherence to departmental attendance policies.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • This is an entry-level position.
  • Must obtain a current food service worker's permit within one month of hire.

Licenses Required:

  • One of the following:
  • Current Utah Food Handler Permit.
  • Current Food Protection Manager certification, accredited by ANSI.

Preferred:

  • Six months of experience in food service or customer service.

Working Conditions:

This position involves working in a high-volume healthcare environment, requiring the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that include standing and walking for extended periods. Employees may encounter exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment hazards.
