Medical Assistant Senior Burn Clinic Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Assistant to join our Burn Clinic team at Children's Hospital Colorado. As a Senior Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare providers in delivering high-quality medical services.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide clinical support to patients and assist healthcare providers with clinical and administrative tasks.
- Prepare patients for medical visits by directing them to the examining room, providing examination gowns and drapes, and arranging instruments and supplies.
- Verify patient information, take vital signs, and confirm the purpose of the visit or treatment.
- Support patient care delivery by assisting healthcare providers during examinations, preparing laboratory specimens, and performing basic testing.
- Anticipate and lead in balancing workloads and MA assignments, maintaining patient/clinic flow, and coordinating with providers and clinic teams.
- Provide phlebotomy and advanced specimen processing services as needed.
- Complete lab test follow-up and medical record documentation.
- Prepare and complete medical records for visits, recording patient information, treatment, and test results.
- Participate in patient education, answering questions and providing written instructions as directed by healthcare providers.
- Perform and support patient reception duties, including check-in, check-out, registration, scheduling, and coordinating follow-up visits.
- Create patient correspondence, including medication administration permission forms and refill request routing.
- Participate in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) medication management and independently initiate referrals and insurance pre-authorizations.
- Provide general office support, including phone and fax management.
- Monitor reports and compliance, completing daily, weekly, and monthly tasks as required.
- Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing orientation, education, and skill validation.
- Ensure supplies are ready by monitoring inventory, stocking work areas, and placing orders.
- Participate in hospital committees as directed by leadership.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited/certified Medical Assistant program.
- One year of experience in a direct healthcare role.
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, National Certified Medical Assistant, or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant.
- Proficient computer skills and functional knowledge of medical terminology.
This position requires frequent standing, walking, and use of hands while keyboarding and writing. The employee may be required to lift or exert force up to 100 pounds and assist or assume direct patient care as census permits. Exposure to blood/body fluid, infectious diseases, and lung irritations may occur.
