Work Locations:

Minimum Salary: $36,000 annually (eligible for overtime)

General Summary:

The Shift Supervisor for Security Operations, under the guidance of the Chief of Security, oversees and directs the activities of the assigned security staff, ensuring that all security, sanitation, and safety protocols are upheld within the Safer Foundation's Adult Transition Centers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the shift supervisor at one of the male Adult Transition Centers.
  • Supervise security personnel during the assigned shift to guarantee the safety and security of residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Ensure that residents fulfill their assigned responsibilities.
  • Review and approve time-off requests for staff and assist in the recruitment of security personnel.
  • Maintain compliance with security, sanitation, and safety standards; monitor residents; conduct counts, searches for contraband, and oversee medication distribution.
  • Facilitate the orientation of new residents, ensuring they understand and comply with facility rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate transportation for residents to work sites, medical appointments, and recreational activities; maintain accurate vehicle logs and reports.
  • Examine reports prepared by staff, such as resident count sheets and medication logs; maintain records of any unusual resident activities.
  • Provide training to residents and staff on emergency protocols; inform supervisors of any emergencies as they occur.
  • Guide residents on personal grooming, public transportation, parole obligations, and other necessary areas.
  • Assume responsibility for the performance of assigned staff in coordination duties.
  • Immediately report any negative drug or alcohol tests or discoveries of substances within the facility to the supervisor and submit an incident report promptly.
  • Notify the on-duty supervisor of any major incidents, such as altercations or medical emergencies, for appropriate reporting.
  • Ensure all reportable incidents are documented within one hour of occurrence.
Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of three years of experience in corrections, security, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience is required.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
Education and Experience:
  • An Associate's Degree in Human Services or a related field is required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • No specific licenses or certifications are required.
