Director of Acute Care Services

Job Summary:
The Director of Acute Care Services is a strategic leader responsible for nursing care treatment and services within the hospital organization. This role provides leadership for critical care and medical/surgical nursing departments, ensuring high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for ensuring the competency of clinical staff and appropriate resource management.
- Provides leadership for critical care and medical/surgical nursing departments.
- Administers managerial and leadership functions, including planning, goal setting, staffing, and directing activities of assigned departments.
- Responsible for organizational throughput, clinical and financial management, improving quality and safety outcomes, and increasing customer satisfaction.
- Acts as a community liaison for awareness, relationship building, and improving clinical programs.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
- Has business/fiscal development accountability.
- Responsible for employee and patient satisfaction initiatives and outcomes.
- Responsible for payroll for staff.
- Responsible for safety and safe staffing.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing is preferred.
- Current Texas Licensed Registered Nurse.
- Current ACLS.
- 5 years of progressive management experience.
- 5 years on Manager and/or Director level experience in a hospital environment.
Working Conditions:
- Works in an office environment, where a great deal of time will be spent sitting in front of a computer screen.
- A great deal of stress is also associated with this position, and workers will frequently come into contact with those who have communicable diseases.
- Most people in this career field work full time, and hours can include weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Fine motor skills.
- Visual acuity.
