Role Overview
The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist plays a crucial role in medication management, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency within the pharmacy. This position involves verifying medication orders through the pharmacy information system, making necessary adjustments in accordance with established protocols, and providing essential patient education.

Key Responsibilities
1. Verify unit dose medications for accuracy in drug selection, dosage, quantity, and packaging integrity.
2. Supervise pharmacy support staff as directed by the Pharmacy Director.
3. Ensure timely availability of first doses and specialty medications while maintaining adequate inventory levels.
4. Conduct monthly audits of controlled substances and participate in quality assurance initiatives.
5. Uphold the documentation and security protocols for narcotic medications.
6. Review medication orders for clinical appropriateness and oversee the transcription process.
7. Update medication records accurately and promptly.
8. Monitor pharmacokinetics for patients on specific therapies and ensure appropriate serum concentration levels are obtained.
9. Identify and document adverse drug reactions and medication incidents.
10. Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients and drug information to healthcare professionals.

Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.S.).
- Must hold an active pharmacist license in good standing.
- Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care setting is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations in the relevant jurisdiction.
