About the Role

The Unit Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the engagement, participation, safety, and security of clients and staff at Casa Esperanza. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day activities, supervising the admission and discharge processes, and collaborating with the Program Director to maintain a safe and secure environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure supervision is provided for the times the Program Director is not on-site.
  • Provide capacity building training for Recovery Specialists.
  • Assist staff in developing co-occurring treatment skills and fidelity to evidence-based practices.
  • Manage the daily client schedule and ensure all client activities are completed.
  • Supervise the admission and discharge processes to ensure protocol adherence.
  • Give tour and orientation to clients when admitted to the program.
  • Ensure clients' property and medication are logged and stored.
  • Submit work orders when maintenance is needed.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to manage inventory.
  • Responsible for crisis intervention and engaging appropriate clinical supports and emergency services as needed.
  • Manage and review controlled substance logs.
  • Conduct reviews of medication files to ensure Recovery Specialists are documenting according to medication policy.
  • Manage toxicology screening, including training for Recovery Specialists.
  • Review Recovery Specialists' station log books to ensure all documentation is completed.
  • Maintain discarded medication log books.
  • Work closely with the Program Director to ensure Recovery Specialist station responsibilities are being met.
  • Understand the structure and activities that occur during each shift and ensure staff are trained and oriented to meet shift requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to ensure the facility is in compliance with licensing standards.
  • Assist the Program Director in scheduling shift coverage for Recovery Specialists, including yearly holiday schedules.
  • Responsible for ensuring coverage for all Recovery Specialists' shifts and covers shifts as needed.
  • Responsible for coordinating twice-monthly Recovery Specialists' meetings with the Program Director.
  • Participate in weekly individual meetings with the Program Director.
  • Ensure Recovery Specialists implement all safety and security protocols for the program.
  • Coordinate activities, meetings, and support for clients, including social activities, movie nights, holidays, peer groups, AA/NA commitments, and peer recovery coaching support.
Requirements
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to understand and maintain client programmatic confidentiality/privacy.
  • Ability to work as a member of a treatment team.
  • Ability to problem-solve programmatic concerns with the Program Director.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with clients, vendors, and external providers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to understand and manage moral/ethical boundaries with clients/staff.
  • Must have computer/data entry skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
Qualifications
  • Medication Administration Program (MAP) certification preferred; willingness to acquire within 6 months.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with a substance-abusing population.
  • Experience working on a team with mental health or medical professionals preferred.
  • Experience managing a reception area preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years in recovery if applicable.
