We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Skills Development Coordinator to join our team at College Internship Program Inc. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting our students in developing the social skills necessary for independence and success.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Social Skills Programs: Design and deliver social skills training programs for our students, focusing on areas such as social communication, awareness, behavior, and confidence.
- Collaborate with Students and Families: Work closely with students, their families, and referring professionals to understand their needs and develop personalized social skills plans.
- Supervise and Train Staff: Supervise and train social skills department staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
- Assess and Evaluate Student Progress: Assess student social skills strengths and challenges, and evaluate progress towards goals, making adjustments to programs as needed.
- Develop Relationships with Local Colleges: Establish and maintain relationships with local colleges to recruit college interns to interact with our students as social mentors.
- Lead and Oversee Student Council: Lead and oversee the Student Council, providing guidance and support to ensure its success.
- Participate in Department Head and Team Review Meetings: Participate in department head and team review meetings, contributing to the overall student program plan.
- Write and Coordinate Individual Service Plans (ISPs): Write and coordinate ISPs and Semi-Annual Progress reports, ensuring that student goals and objectives are met.
- Communicate with Student Families: Communicate with student families regarding overall progress, activities attended, schedule changes, internship issues and opportunities, and any other information related to the student's program plan.
- Assist Students with Banking/Money Management: Assist students with banking/money management, monitoring student monthly budget.
- Lead Team Review Meetings (TRMs): Lead TRMs and communicate up-to-date student progress on advising goals to CIP staff on a weekly basis.
- Attend Weekly Meetings: Attend weekly meetings to receive an update on student academic, residential, culinary, community service, and vocational progress.
- Consult with Other Department Coordinators: Consult regularly with other department coordinators to ensure that student programming is comprehensive and supportive of their overall goals.
- Confront and Respond to Problems: Confront and respond to problems, policy violations, and other issues that may arise.
- Reinforce Student Progress: Reinforce student progress through goal achievement, monitoring student progress, and apprising families, external professionals, and CIP staff of student progress.
- Promote Student Engagement: Promote and encourage student engagement by utilizing advising processes and tools.
- Coordinate with CIP Team: Coordinate with the CIP team to determine appropriate supports that assist students in a way unique to their needs.
- Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
- Communication and Organization Skills: Exceptional communication and organization skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with Social Skills Training: Experience in approaches, methods, and support for persons with autism spectrum disorder and/or learning differences, specifically in the area of social skills or social mentoring.
- Project Management and Team Supervision: Successfully managed projects and teams within a collaborative workplace environment.
- PEER for Young Adults Certified: PEER for Young Adults Certified is highly preferred.
- Active Driver's License: An active driver's license is required.
- Licensed Social Worker: A licensed social worker is required.
