Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Specialist to join our team at Prisma Health in Richland. As a key member of our Central Sterile department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care by maintaining and processing medical equipment and instruments.
Responsibilities- Decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize medical equipment and instruments using industry-standard procedures.
- Sort, inspect, and report any damage or needed repairs on received items.
- Select the optimal decontamination method for each item.
- Prepare and package instrument trays, surgical instruments, equipment, and specialty items.
- Determine the appropriate sterilization or disinfection method and follow established protocols.
- Document all activities related to instrument/equipment decontamination, assembly, disinfection, and sterilization.
- Monitor and maintain equipment functionality and perform high-level disinfection as needed.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Completion of job-related coursework in Surgical Tech, Sterile Processing Tech, or Dental Assistant training program.
- Certification as either CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) from HSPA or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician) from CBSPD is preferred.
- A minimum of 6 months experience in a hospital or clinical setting, or equivalent.
We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
