At Prisma Health, we strive to provide exceptional care to our patients and communities. As a Sterile Processing Tech in our Central Sterile department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality of patient care.

Job Summary

This night shift position is responsible for performing duties in Central Sterile Processing Department, including decontamination, instrument preparation and assembly, and sterilization/disinfection. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Receives, sorts, disassembles, and processes contaminated instruments and equipment using established procedures and guidelines
  • Removes soil, blood, tissue fragments, and body fluids from instruments and equipment using various methods, including wiping, soaking, rinsing, scrubbing, and ultrasonic or other mechanical methods
  • Assembles all instrument sets following prescribed manner and outlined on Instrument Count Sheets
  • Properly documents missing items from sets and labels sets correctly
  • Takes action to correct problems with instrument sets and reports any unresolved issues
  • Sterilizes instruments, equipment, linen, and supplies using various types of autoclaves and aerators
  • Reprocesses equipment via high-level disinfection as appropriate
  • Loads and operates machinery in prescribed manner and sets controls to correct specifications for items being sterilized
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A minimum of 10 weeks (400 hours) experience in a Sterile Processing hospital setting
  • Certification as either CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) from HSPA or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician) from CBSPD

In lieu of education requirements, we will accept High School diploma or equivalent and 6 months experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
