Job Description

Blew & Associates, P.A. is a leading national land surveying, engineering, and environmental firm with over 130 years of experience in the industry. We are seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Chief to fulfill the increasing needs of our clients in the Richmond, VA region. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading a team of surveyors in the field, ensuring the accuracy and quality of survey data, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Survey Data Collection
    • Collect and record survey data in the field, including boundary, pins, improvements, utilities, and other relevant features.
    • Operate and maintain survey equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
  • Quality Control and Assurance
    • Review and verify survey data for accuracy and completeness.
    • Perform calculations and data analysis to ensure the quality of survey deliverables.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead and manage a team of surveyors in the field, providing guidance and support as needed.
    • Communicate effectively with team members, project managers, and clients to ensure project success.
  • Physical Demands
    • Work in a fast-paced outdoor environment, often in rugged terrain and inclement weather conditions.
    • Ability to lift and transport heavy equipment and supplies.
  • Travel and Overtime
    • Travel regionally and nationally to support project needs.
    • Work overtime, including weekends, as needed to meet project deadlines.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of surveying concepts and practices.
  • Proficient in the use of survey equipment and software.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
