We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Avionics Electrical Engineer to join our team at Impulse Space. As a key member of our avionics team, you will be responsible for designing and testing custom circuit boards and other avionics devices, mentoring less experienced engineers, and guiding the technical direction of the team.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to new spacecraft avionics architecture trades
- Develop circuit boards and electromechanical assemblies
- Perform rigorous analyses and simulations of avionics devices and systems
- Perform development testing of hardware in the lab, from a single circuit board to an entire system including non-avionics elements
- Own hardware through qualification and flight operations
- Establish and maintain high technical standards and mentor less experienced engineers
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 4+ years professional experience designing electronics for rockets, spacecraft, or other vehicles
- Proficiency with electronics component selection, analysis, simulation, schematics, and layout
- Experience troubleshooting electronics problems at the board level or system level
- Desire to improve team processes and train other team members
- Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale and/or resolve concerns
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience with Altium Designer
- Experience doing new development work for any of the following: optics, star trackers, cameras, motors, reaction wheels, batteries, harnessing, ethernet switches, FPGAs, antennas, or any other specialized area relevant to spacecraft or rockets
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
