Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team at Chenega Corporation. As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will assist in the performance of mechanical engineering statement of work development and provide technical support to our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of mechanical engineering statements of work and provide technical support to construction projects.
  • Represent the FEAD/ROICC at construction sites and monitor contractor quality control to ensure compliance with approved safety plans and established safety procedures.
  • Assist construction managers in coordination and construction of projects, attending and participating in all construction and quality control meetings.
  • Monitor construction contractor performance for compliance with approved safety plans and established safety procedures, and notify project superintendents or QC managers and government staff of safety violations.
  • Review construction plans and specifications, have a thorough knowledge of construction contract requirements, and recommend changes or corrective action as necessary.
  • Investigate and inspect construction contract/CQC systems, coordinate resolution of technical problems, and prepare inspection reports.
  • Interpret contract documents, determine whether construction meets contract requirements, and report concerns to CM, FEAD/ROICC, and KO for resolution.
  • Assure that contractor's quality control reports and test results are timely and accurate, and maintain records of CQC reports.
  • Review and verify progress payments, and provide input to CM concerning construction contractor performance at the end of the project.
  • Schedule and conduct joint pre-final and final inspections of work to ensure construction is free of contract deficiencies, and maintain a status listing of any deficiencies outstanding at the time of turnover.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of specialized experience in mechanical and plumbing systems, evaluation of new and existing commercial facilities, industrial and health care facilities similar to the building types prevalent in the NAVFAC Washington Area of Responsibility.
  • Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Design and technical competence with developing and production of complete statements of work, including drawings and specifications for new and renovation projects.
  • Extensive technical and practical knowledge and experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician.
  • Strong knowledge of computer operations and software applications such as MS Office, construction management software, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to function independently, interpreting, adapting, and supplementing knowledge as necessary to complete tasks, tests, or projects.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, including progressively difficult substantial experience in this field.
