Role Summary
The Membership Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role in driving membership expansion through strategic marketing initiatives, lead management, and effective conversion techniques. This position is vital in achieving membership goals by addressing inquiries through various channels, identifying challenges, and providing solutions to potential members. Additionally, the role involves community engagement through the organization of marketing events aimed at boosting membership.
Key Qualifications
- AGE: Minimum 16 years; work permit required for those under 18.
- EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
- SKILLS: Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- EXPERIENCE: Previous customer service experience is preferred.
- AVAILABILITY: Must be able to commit to at least 15 hours per week.

- Must possess the physical, visual, and auditory capabilities to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Core Responsibilities
- Foster a welcoming atmosphere by greeting all members and guests warmly.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to members, guests, and program participants.
- Ensure accurate processing of all membership and program enrollments, confirming member information regularly.
- Handle program registrations, payments, and membership inquiries efficiently.
- Provide accurate information to inquiries via phone or in-person interactions.
- Manage access control by verifying membership cards upon entry, ensuring active membership status.
- Support the Membership Team in achieving sales objectives, including conducting interviews and providing comprehensive facility tours.
- Address member feedback, complaints, and inquiries promptly and courteously, adhering to established procedures.
- Promote YMCA programs that align with member interests and needs.
- Engage members regarding their involvement in YMCA initiatives and events.
- Offer solutions for membership cancellations while following appropriate protocols.
- Administer policies and resolve member issues positively.
- Adhere to daily cash handling procedures for payment processing and end-of-day reconciliation.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Uphold YMCA policies related to safety, supervision, and risk management.
- Exemplify the Six Pillars of Character and YMCA Core Values in all interactions.
- Demonstrate a commitment to personal growth and mission-driven leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
