Role Responsibilities

The Membership Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role in driving membership growth through effective marketing strategies, lead generation, and membership conversion. This position is tasked with achieving and surpassing sales targets by addressing all membership inquiries through various channels, identifying challenges, and providing solutions to encourage membership enrollment. Additional duties include community outreach through the planning and execution of marketing events aimed at boosting membership.

Qualifications

  • AGE: Must be 16 years or older; individuals under 18 require a work permit.
  • EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
  • SPECIALIZED SKILLS: Strong ethical values, excellent communication abilities, and basic computer proficiency, including knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • RELATED EXPERIENCE: Previous customer service experience is preferred.
  • AVAILABILITY: Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.

Key Duties

  1. Foster a welcoming atmosphere by greeting all members warmly.
  2. Deliver outstanding customer service to members, guests, and program participants.
  3. Ensure accurate processing of all membership and program enrollments, confirming that member information is up-to-date.
  4. Handle program registrations, payments, and membership transactions efficiently.
  5. Provide accurate and comprehensive information in response to inquiries, whether over the phone or in person.
  6. Manage access control by verifying membership cards upon entry, ensuring they are active and current.
  7. Support the Membership Team in achieving sales objectives, including conducting prospective member interviews and providing thorough facility tours.
  8. Address member feedback, inquiries, and concerns promptly and courteously, adhering to established procedures.
  9. Promote YMCA programs that align with members' evolving needs and interests.
  10. Engage members regarding their involvement in YMCA programs and special events.
  11. Offer options for membership cancellations while following appropriate protocols.
  12. Administer policies and resolve member issues as they arise, interpreting these policies positively.
  13. Adhere to daily cash handling procedures for processing payments and completing end-of-day reconciliations.
  14. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  15. Uphold YMCA policies related to safety, supervision, mandated reporting, and risk management.
  16. Exemplify the Six Pillars of Character (Trustworthiness, Citizenship, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Fairness) and the YMCA Core Values in all interactions with members, guests, volunteers, and colleagues.
  17. Demonstrate a commitment to personal growth and development in leadership areas, including mission advancement and operational effectiveness.
