We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Coding Specialist to join our team at InterMed. As a key member of our coding team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of medical records, maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines, and providing expert coding services to our healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities- Stay up-to-date with the latest coding systems, including CPT-4 and ICD-10, and apply this knowledge to optimize coding and reduce denials.
- Collaborate with departments to ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and quality.
- Provide consultative services to physicians and staff on complex coding issues and problem areas identified by internal or external coding audits.
- Train providers and staff on correct coding guidelines and best practices.
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory guidelines and audit standards to ensure accurate and compliant coding.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One of the following certifications required: CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT.
- Three to five years of medical record coding experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and ability to quickly learn new software applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will be based at our office in South Portland, Maine.
