Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist with expertise in cylindrical grinding operations to join our team at Holroyd Precision Rotors Inc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and program cylindrical grinding machines (Studer) according to blueprint and product specifications for dimensions, tolerances, and volume required.
  • Understand and select correct speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels for each specific part in manufacture.
  • Verify first-run products for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and air gaging.
  • Troubleshoot nonconformities and maintain statistical process control charts.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMs), and Health & Safety rules for machining operations.
  • Support the training of operators and perform operator-level machine maintenance duties as required.
  • Use correct handling equipment for size and weight of parts.
  • Perform any additional tasks as requested by the organization.
Requirements
  • Good understanding of speeds, feeds, wheel dressing, fixtures, and tools associated with cylindrical grinding.
  • Ability to interpret complex blueprints and set up/program machines accordingly.
  • Experience with editing programs, knowledge of Winmax an advantage.
  • Possess a depth of knowledge to resolve problems and maintain productivity.
  • Understand the need for adherence to procedures and rules, especially around safe working practices.
  • Consistency in producing accurate parts to specification.
  • Knowledge and experience of cylindrical grinding to work independently without support from others.
  • Ability to work within close tolerances on a variety of complex parts to meet production deadlines.
  • An understanding of and experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is desirable.
  • This position requires attention to detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work independently as a team player who takes pride in producing high-quality work.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Experience as a CNC Set-up Machinist for cylindrical grinding operations.
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, for the length of an 8-10 hour shift, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk and talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
