Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiochemist to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our radiopharmaceutical production team, you will play a critical role in the development and production of PET radiotracers for human use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement clinical batch production methods for producing PET tracers for human use.
  • Routinely produce 11C- and 18F-labeled tracers for human use, ensuring compliance with cGMP regulations.
  • Participate in the process of radiometabolite analysis and quality control, ensuring the release of high-quality PET radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for tracer production, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with research teams to prepare research papers and abstracts for submission to peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
  • Participate in the maintenance of cGMP clean room and production facilities, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Assist with the ordering of laboratory supplies and management of inventory.
Requirements
  • B.S. degree in Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Radiochemistry, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated track record of producing short half-life radioisotopes (11C, 18F, 68Ga, etc.) labeled PET radiotracers for clinical or preclinical studies.
  • One year's experience with quality assurance in a radiopharmaceutical production environment.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience developing and producing PET radiotracers for clinical uses in a cGMP compliant environment, operating automated synthesis modules, and knowledge of Federal regulations related to radiopharmaceutical productions.
