Job Scope

The MPD Supervisor is required to supervise field installation and operation of Managed Pressure Drilling jobs, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of drilling operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Opla Energy's proprietary Software to manage drilling operations.
  • Fill out and submit all required documentation, including safety meetings, daily tickets, JHA's, and permits.
  • Identify and handle kicks and various other drilling scenarios, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of drilling operations.
  • Ensure equipment is kept clean and functional, inspect for wear, and perform maintenance as required.
  • Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
  • Utilize and abide by safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
  • Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • At least 3+ years of direct MPD experience, with knowledge in MPD processes, equipment capabilities, and downhole knowledge.
  • 5+ years of direct MPD experience preferred, with knowledge in MPD processes, equipment capabilities, and downhole knowledge.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Pre-employment Testing (Drug, alcohol, and fitness).
  • Basic Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel computer skills.
Competencies
  • Ability to walk and stand throughout a 12-hour day.
  • Ability to consistently lift 50 lbs. from a floor or table position to chest high using a proper lifting technique.
  • Ability to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts, with good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to read, evaluate, and respond to well plans, drilling procedures, displacement schedules, and perform normal math calculations easily.
  • Ability to be familiar and comfortable with various types of machinery, with strong general mechanical skills.
  • Willingness to learn and ability to work well within a collaborative team.
