The Position:

Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Remote

Reporting to: Colin Schumaker

Expected Travel: 25% - 50%

Responsibilities:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will serve as the Technical leader on the Caps and Closure Manufacturing Team.

You will provide technical expertise to Origin's Manufacturing partners within North America and across the globe.

This position is responsible for initiating and leading improvements to unit performance with respect to safety, production, optimization, and quality.

This position will work within a dynamic team environment to provide manufacturing and technical expertise to Origin and our Manufacturing Partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentor less experienced engineers and our manufacturing partners on design practices, unit health monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Communicate effectively and drive a strong team between Origin Materials and our Manufacturing Partners.
  • Aid in the development of the long-term vision and strategy for process design improvements.
  • Provide visible leadership and demonstrate accountability of Origin Materials EH&S Values to operations personnel.
  • Leverage plant and technical knowledge to work in advanced process troubleshooting and coach others to learn these skills.
  • Understand all applicable process technology, equipment, and control technology.
  • Identify and present plans to increase productivity and reduce expense across all production lines.
  • Track and meet daily/weekly/monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Safety Near Miss Reporting, Volume/Productivity, Quality/Scrap, Manufacturing Efficiency (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and Cycle Time.
  • Participate in the identification and performance stewardship of Manufacturing Partners.
  • Strong collaboration and partnership with other team members to start up new lines within the Manufacturing Network, implement improvements, solve cross-functional problems, and launch additional product formats.
  • Provide support for developing and executing various capital projects to drive improvements or cost reductions.

Qualifications:

Educational requirements: B.S. Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

Relevant experience: 10+ years of manufacturing experience with PET extrusion and/or thermoforming technologies.

Skills and Competencies:

Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills (written and verbal).

Proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety.

Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well as in a group.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in sheet extrusion, thermoforming, and/or injection molding manufacturing, highly desired.

Experience in the caps & closures industry, highly desired.

Experience with slit and fold closure manufacturing a plus.

Beverage and/or liquid formulation manufacturing experience also beneficial.

Experience as Manufacturing, Reliability, or Mechanical Engineer.

Experience Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.

Salary Range:

This position is a Level 4 at Origin Materials. The pay range for this position level at Origin Materials is $139,000 - $194,000.

This range is not necessarily a guarantee of actual compensation that may be earned nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee, which is always dependent on relevant experience, education, and other factors.
