Patient Care Technician

The Riverview Health team is seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to provide direct care to patients in our Med/Surg unit. As a Patient Care Technician, you will be responsible for aiding patients with basic daily life needs, such as feeding, bathing, and dressing.

You will also be responsible for measuring daily vitals, monitoring patient behavior and mood, and reporting this information to the Registered Nurse. Additionally, you will maintain clean and organized hallways, rooms, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe, document, and communicate significant findings to the Registered Nurse to minimize and prevent delays or complications in patient care.
  • Document pertinent patient care data on appropriate forms and/or within the electronic patient chart.
  • Assist in the provision of routine hygienic, nutritional, and comfort needs of patients.
  • Perform routine clinical tests and procedures, such as vital signs and hot/cold packs.
  • Function as testing personnel under CLIA 1988 regulations if applicable.
  • Perform basic nursing support tasks, such as answering call lights and transporting patients.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent qualifications as a high school graduate.
  • Basic Life Safety certification within 90 days of hire into the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year in a hospital environment providing similar health services as a CNA.
