Job SummaryThe Clinical Services Technician is responsible for collecting specimens from all age populations, with minimal patient impact. This role involves processing and allocating laboratory specimens and orders from various sources, ensuring proper patient/specimen identification and appropriateness of specimen and accompanying orders. The successful candidate will organize laboratory workflow, prioritize processing and distribution of specimens, and utilize equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test, request, accession, label, and deliver specimens to appropriate laboratory sections within acceptable time frames.
Key Responsibilities- Collect specimens from all age populations with minimal patient impact
- Process and allocate laboratory specimens and orders from various sources
- Verify proper patient/specimen identification and appropriateness of specimen and accompanying orders
- Organize laboratory workflow and prioritize processing and distribution of specimens
- Utilize equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test, request, accession, label, and deliver specimens to appropriate laboratory sections within acceptable time frames
- Perform specified procedures within scope of established testing methods and responsibilities
- Perform and document routine maintenance and quality control procedures on specified equipment and troubleshoot as needed
- Demonstrate service excellence by acknowledging customers in a friendly and professional manner, actively listening, responding with empathy, and showing pride in appearance and behavior
- Update knowledge, skills, and apply appropriately
- Maintain age-specific and other required competencies as needed
- Work both independently and as part of a team with general supervision and/or periodic review by Practice Manager
- 1 year of clinical experience as a phlebotomist required
- 1 year of healthcare experience in acute care preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Graduate phlebotomy preferred
- American Society for Clinical Pathology or phlebotomy certification preferred
Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
No weekends or call requirements
