Job Description

At AST, we are seeking a highly skilled CAD Automation Engineer to join our team. As a CAD Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing automated solutions to enhance the design and drafting processes across various projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop automation solutions to streamline design and drafting tasks using scripting languages and CAD software.
  • Analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Develop and maintain standardized templates, libraries, and design guidelines to ensure consistency across projects.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to understand their needs and integrate automation solutions that support project goals.
  • Utilize programming languages (e.g., Python, C#, VBA) to create scripts and tools that automate repetitive tasks within design software.
  • Integrate design tools and software with other enterprise systems to ensure seamless data flow.
  • Provide training and support to team members on automated tools and processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of automation processes, scripts, and training materials for future reference.
  • Implement automated checks to ensure design integrity and compliance with industry standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in design and drafting, with a focus on process development and design automation.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD software (e.g., Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and automation tools (e.g., Dynamo, Grasshopper).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, C#, VBA) for automation tasks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expert in AutoDesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault.
  • Experience with cloud-based design tools (e.g., Onshape, Fusion 360).
  • Familiarity with APIs and data integration techniques.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to design and drafting.
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing to take and successfully pass a drug test.
