We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at the Montana Office of Public Instruction. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of students in our elementary schools.
Key Responsibilities- Manage school health services programs in assigned elementary schools, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to students.
- Provide basic health care to students, including first aid and emergency care, in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Evaluate ill students, make parent contact as necessary, and maintain accurate health records for each student.
- Administer medication, following district medication policy and physician orders, and accurately record office visits, medication administration, and health-related concerns.
- Maintain accurate medication logs, medication administration forms, and medication disposal records.
- Review health screening information, record information into student health records, and update immunization records to ensure compliance with state guidelines.
- Conduct vision and hearing screenings, interpret health findings for educational staff, and implement health education programs to promote student health and well-being.
- Communicate with school staff, parents, and community agencies to ensure optimal communication and care for students with special health needs.
- Participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) teams, provide special education-related services, and manage the care of individual students with special health needs.
- Perform routine health screenings, conduct health reviews, and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, and community agencies.
- Thorough knowledge of common medical practices, procedures, and techniques associated with a standard physical examination.
- Knowledge of computer applications and medical technology related to specific job functions.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, policies, and procedures related to school medical services.
- Ability to analyze situations, define issues, and draw conclusions.
- Ability to perform computer operations, create and maintain accurate reports, and establish effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing or orally, handle stressful situations, and make sound decisions.
