Job Summary

Berkshire Systems Group Inc is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Life Safety Inspector to join our team. As a Life Safety Inspector, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our clients' facilities by conducting on-site inspections of fire alarm systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to locate system devices and components
  • Operate various panels and extract fire alarm event data to identify potential issues
  • Conduct tests and inspections of fire alarms, security systems, and communication systems as needed
  • Utilize inspection software to accurately document findings and maintain detailed records
Requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to effectively use a smartphone for communication and documentation
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with clients in a professional manner
  • Capability to read and interpret engineering drawings and operational manuals
  • Basic understanding of circuitry and experience using a multimeter
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities, with a detail-oriented approach to documentation and task completion
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing tools, equipment, and records
  • Preferred: 1 year of industry-related experience or equivalent education; cultural fit is valued, and training for excellence will be provided
  • Basic mechanical aptitude, including experience with hand and power tools
  • Training in general safety, electrostatic discharge awareness, and quality systems awareness
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, access elevated areas, and inspect system components installed at various heights
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Manual dexterity to handle materials
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds daily; heavier lifting with mechanical assistance or teamwork
  • Mobility: Comfort moving safely within confined spaces, crawl spaces, attics, and other installation areas
  • Vision: Visual acuity in at least one eye of 20/40 or better (uncorrected) or 20/70 with corrective lenses; ability to distinguish colors
