Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian, Facilities and Campus Services to join our team at Wake Forest University. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our campus facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general custodial duties, including sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors, dusting and polishing furniture and woodwork, and cleaning restrooms and replenishing supplies.
  • Empty and clean waste and recycling receptacles, pick up paper and trash, and clean relight glass, windows, and walls.
  • Clean decks, balconies, sidewalks, offices, laundry rooms, and common space areas, and set up, move, and arrange furniture and equipment.
  • Turn out lights and lock doors and windows as required, and maintain custodial areas and equipment to ensure they are clean and presentable.
  • Unload supply deliveries and organize materials as needed, and launder housekeeping materials as requested by leadership.
  • Work on special projects and clean other facilities as assigned, and report any safety concerns to the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Ability to read and understand safety procedures, cleaning instructions, and schedules.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to understand and interpret terminology related to the area of work.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical abilities: climbing, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
Preferred Qualifications

High school graduate plus one year of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Environmental Conditions

Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions and hazards.
