Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Processing Specialist to join our team at National Jewish Health. As a key member of our Specimen Processing Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Entry and Quality Control: Perform accurate and efficient data entry of test orders into our Laboratory Information System (LIS), ensuring compliance with quality control guidelines.
  • Specimen Handling and Management: Receive, handle, and manage specimens for processing in multiple laboratories, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with phlebotomy staff to ensure timely delivery of critical samples, communicate effectively with laboratory staff on sample status, and identify and resolve issues related to specimen types.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Maintain a strong understanding of compliance regulations related to test ordering, adhere to laboratory and institutional policies, and participate in quality assurance activities to ensure compliance.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; college-level courses in biology, related life sciences, and/or medical terminology preferred.
  • Work Experience: Six months of recent work experience in a laboratory and/or lab assistant training, with a medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
  • Certifications and Licenses: None required.
