Part-Time Opportunity - Day Shift
Role Summary:
Under the supervision of the Radiation Oncologist, the radiation therapy specialist is responsible for utilizing ionizing radiation equipment to deliver therapeutic radiation doses as prescribed for patients undergoing radiotherapy. Key responsibilities include scheduling patient appointments, providing education, maintaining treatment equipment and records, overseeing the treatment area, and fulfilling additional duties as required. This role demands a patient-focused approach, technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork. The individual must be capable of responding effectively in emergency situations and providing intubation when necessary.
- Ensures the safe and accurate delivery of a prescribed radiotherapy regimen, monitoring and documenting any adverse effects, reactions, therapeutic responses, and incompatibilities, and consulting with the Radiation Oncologist as needed before proceeding with treatment.
- Demonstrates proficiency in operating Linear Accelerators (Linacs) and CT simulators while conducting patient treatments.
- Provides comprehensive patient education and fosters excellent customer relations.
- Accurately documents procedures and captures billing information.
- Education - Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
- Licensure - Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiation Therapy and possess State Radiation Operator Certification.
- New graduates are welcome to apply, provided they can pass the board examinations within three months of employment.
- Experience - No prior experience is required.
- Basic Life Support certification is necessary.
